BACKYARD

We have been wanting to put up some fun swings in our backyard trees and Labor Day weekend was the perfect time to do it! We have a big yard with many big old trees so our idea is, instead of buying a big playset, to make several kind of natural areas that the kids could explore and play. So this was PHASE 1: two rope swings and a tire swing. After a little Labor Day picnic at the park, we went to Lowe's for the supplies. We also were lucky (kind of) that Chris ran over a nail earlier in the week and had to have the flat tire replaced. Nick and I raced over to Firestone and asked if we could please have our tire back from three days ago. They were a little reluctant at first, due to the governmental restrictions on tire disposal and all, but they weren't about to disappoint little Nick and his dream of a tire swing. The nice guy took us out back to where they were storing hundreds of tires for disposal and told him to pick whatever tire he wanted. Right away, he picked a big old truck tire, perfect for a swing. We hauled that baby home and Chris had to tied up and ready to go in no time. I am not sure who had more fun, Chris and I or the kids! Next up: sandbox, climbing rope and grass fort!
